Covering a comprehensive range of drilling, sawing and cutting techniques allows Diamanttek to select the most suitable, cost-effective and efficient method of operation for both a large-scale contract or a one-off specific job.

In addition to our diamond drilling service we also offer rock drilling, rotary percussive drilling and scabbling to tackle bespoke jobs in differing materials.

Rock drilling is a more traditional method of drilling, using tools that operate with more of a hammering action when drilling into solid rock structures or sub strata. These can be operated with chisel bits, cross bits or button bits and can function for dry or wet drilling in medium-hard or hard rock. Chisel bits are taper connected, the diameter ranging from 20mm to 60mm. Cross bits can be taper connected or thread connected and the diameter ranges from 28mm to 89mm.

This method is suitable for either drilling downward for inclined blastholes in medium-hard rock or for second blasting operation.

Scabbling is a method to create or prepare surfaces to receive new finishes, such as concrete slabs. It is performed with a machine called a Scabbler which operates by pounding a number of rods, tipped with steel or carbide, down on the concrete surface in rapid succession. This prevents the penetration of water which, if it freezes, can cause cracking of the substrate. Optional cruciform heads are available on the scabbler for material reduction with a smoother finish.

Rotary percussion drilling uses an electric or air driven motor with a carbide tipped bit, often hand held - though it can be rig-mounted to avoid overexposure to hand arm vibration. When noise and vibration are an issue diamond drilling is more suitable but rotary percussive drilling is relatively inexpensive by comparison and usually faster. Concrete and masonry drilling in this way can be cost effective, although rotary percussive cannot be used to drill through steel.

Diamanttek also uses percussive drilling to locate anchor bolts and resin fixing due to the rough finish of the bore hole.
